MADISON COUNTY — A Glen Carbon man was charged Monday with two counts of DUI in the crash that killed an Alton teenager on Friday.

Zachary A. Shewmake, 28, was charged with aggravated driving while under the influence in connection with the accident, which occurred about 9 p.m. at Homer Adams Parkway and Seminary Road in Alton.

According to court documents, Shewmake's car ran a red light and collided with another vehicle, resulting in the death of 17-year-old Grace Bustos.

Her mother was airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital, where she was reported in stable condition as of Saturday.
