CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Two days after the application process opened to become a member of the proposed new Mecklenburg County transit authority, Charlotte City Council still does not have plans to select them.

At Monday’s City Council Committee meeting wrap-up, council was tasked to determine the process of selecting the 12 members that were approved to come from Charlotte. The Metropolitan Public Transportation Authority, which would be created if the 1-cent transit tax increase is approved next month, would have 27 members in total.

The PAVE Act says that three of Charlotte’s representatives must represent business interests in the county, and one must have experience operating a small business. The county’s other towns will have one appointment each.
