A suspect is in custody after a man was fatally stabbed at a Fall River home Monday morning, the Bristol District Attorney ‘s office said.

Around 2 a.m., police responded to a 911 call reporting a fatal stabbing, prosecutors said.

“The caller indicated that someone had been stabbed and killed,” prosecutors said.

When emergency responders arrived at the Chesworth Street home, they found a 53-year-old man with an injury to his chest, prosecutors said.

The man was taken to Charlton Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police are investigating the death as a homicide and have taken a suspect into custody, prosecutors said.
