One woman was killed and another was critically injured after they were struck by a hit-and-run driver in Jamaica Plain on Sunday night, police said.
At about 9:37 p.m., officers responded to a report of two pedestrians hit by a vehicle in the area of 101 South Huntington Ave., according to a statement by Officer Mark Marron, a spokesperson for the Boston Police Department.
The crash happened near the Heath Street MBTA stop on the Green Line.
A 77-year-old woman was taken to a hospital, where she later died. A 39-year-old woman is in critical condition, Marron said.
The driver left the scene of the crash. The car was later found unoccupied in the area of Huntington Avenue and has been secured by police, Marron said.
