Detroit Pistons center Jalen Duren was unexpectedly missing from the starting lineup for the team’s preseason opener against the Memphis Grizzlies Monday night.

After starting in all 78 games he played in last season, the 21-year-old will not get to take the court to tip off preseason as he is currently considered day-to-day due to hamstring soreness, according to the Pistons’ television broadcast.

With Duren sidelined, the starting five against Memphis at FedEx Forum included forward Isaiah Stewart alongside Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Ausar Thompson and Tobias Harris.

The severity of the injury is unknown ahead of the game, but at this point the Pistons won’t want to take any chances on Duren missing any regular season basketball if it can be avoided.
