Australia Post has revealed at least one postie is injured every weekday, according to new figures.

Over the past financial year, 280 people were left injured due to reckless drivers resulting in broken arms, legs and concussions.

These injuries often placed the workers in hospital, requiring time off and inflicting ongoing psychological trauma, Australia Post said.

According to the data, posties were injured by distracted drivers on their mobile phones, or motorists overtaking on the wrong side of the road.

Drivers failing to give way at roundabouts, and members of the public conducting unsafe turns or lane changes were also ranked among the highest.
