LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Growing calls to re-examine the Ronald Exantus case have gained momentum after the White House announced it would look into his early release from prison last week.
Exantus was charged with the 2015 death of 6-year-old Logan Tipton and also stabbed and injured Logan’s father and two sisters. In 2018, a jury convicted him of assault but found him not guilty of murder by reason of insanity. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
A decade-old Kentucky law allowed Exantus to be placed on mandatory re-entry supervision, which he will serve in Florida. Logan’s family said they feel blindsided by the release.
