Syracuse, N.Y. — No. 6 Skaneateles girls tennis had to overcome one challenge before even stepping on the court against undefeated No. 3 Sauquoit Valley on Monday — an hour-and-a-half trip on the road.

The Lakers didn’t need long to shake off the bus legs. Skaneateles started strong and finished stronger in a narrow 3-2 victory over the Red Hawks in the Section III Class D quarterfinals.
