COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A man was found dead inside a home on Brookstone Boulevard, prompting a homicide investigation.

According to the Columbus Police Department, officers were called to the 6300 block of Brookstone Boulevard for a welfare check. When they arrived, they found a man dead from a gunshot wound inside the home.

Investigators say it is unclear how long the victim had been there. The department’s Violent Crimes Unit is leading the investigation.
