EUGENE — Indiana’s top cornerback is expected to play in Saturday’s top 10 matchup with Oregon.
D’Angelo Ponds, a preseason All-American, missed Indiana’s game against Iowa with a reported lower body injury. Indiana coach Curt Cignetti said he expects Ponds to “be fine and play” this week after being replaced in the starting lineup at Iowa by Ryland Gandy.
“We found out late in the week (Ponds) wouldn’t be available for the Iowa game,” Cignetti said. “Coach (Bryant) Haines took out the eraser and ink pen and game plan changed a little bit, played a little bit more zone than he was planning on playing going into the game, and I thought we did well.”
