Several families are preparing to lay their loved ones to rest after a violent weekend across the region.

In Dallas, a series of shootings left five people dead and three others hospitalized. A stabbing also injured a pregnant woman and caused her to lose her unborn child.

Early Sunday morning, Josue Lara woke to find his home on Bernal Drive had become a crime scene. His father and younger brother were shot dead outside.

“It’s just a feeling you can’t really explain, like foggy, like your vision is foggy. And then when I realized it was them, like my heart sunk to my chest. My whole body was numb,” Lara said.
