GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — The former Golden Valley Police Chief, Virgil Green, resigned on Friday after being put on administrative leave in May.
Two independent investigations had been carried out against him, but on Monday he sat down with KARE 11 Reporter Jennifer Hoff for a wide-ranging interview.
He denied any wrongdoing and says he first learned about any allegations the day he was put on leave.
"It was definitely a surprise," said Green. "I wasn’t given any indication that this was something I should have expected."
Green was hired in 2022 to help turn around what was an embattled department. Before he arrived, an independent investigation uncovered misconduct and racism that led to more than half of its officers resigning. There are now only five open positions.
