MINNEAPOLIS — Those who have lost their lives to domestic violence will be remembered Monday night at Tubman, a Twin Cities nonprofit that helps victims, during a ceremony marking Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

“Any life lost to domestic violence is a tragedy,” said Jennifer Dickinson, director of legal services at Tubman. “This is still an issue. This has not gotten better, to be honest.”

Among those honored will be Mariah Samuels , described by her family as a mother, daughter, sister and friend.

Police say her ex-boyfriend, David Wright, shot her 10 times outside her north Minneapolis home last month.

Court records show Samuels filed an order for protection against Wright three weeks before her death. Wright was on federal probation related to drug charges at the time, had
