PICAYUNE, Miss. (WLOX) - Several South Mississippi families say they paid thousands of dollars for headstones to honor their loved ones, but months later, they still have nothing to show for it.

Monday, WLOX investigative reporter Noah Noble met with one family that is searching for answers — and justice.

On April 20, 2024, David and Julie Neff lost their daughter, Olivia, to a drug overdose. Addiction had been a struggle for the young mother who gave birth to a baby boy five months before her death.

“She had gone to rehab while we had the baby,” David recalled. “She had gone a few times. I mean, she wasn’t out that long before she went back. It is what it is.”
