MIDLAND, Texas — It took one presidential signature for Basin PBS to lose 48% of its revenue, which, according to its CEO, Laura J. Wolf, was almost a million dollars.
The money was crucial in funding local programming, salaries and maintenance costs. The strict spending guidelines came from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. But on Oct. 1, that non-profit shut down.
"We’ve been having to kinda scramble and figure out a new strategy," Wolf said. "I’m not sure we can make up that million dollars, but we’re gonna do really well with donors and sponsors making up a good portion of it."
Basin PBS has been proudly serving the Permian since 1986 with not just our favorite childhood cartoons, but with mayoral debates and town halls. In total, 19 counties rely on the station’s programming
