NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The National Weather Service has confirmed three tornadoes touched down across southern Tangipahoa Parish during the early morning hours of Monday, October 6, 2025. The storms developed from small but powerful supercells that formed in a very humid, tropical air mass between 3 and 6 a.m.

The most significant tornado struck the Tickfaw area, rated EF-1 with estimated winds up to 90 mph. It first touched down near the Hammond Northshore Regional Airport around 4 a.m. and tracked for more than 7 miles toward Independence. The storm snapped numerous trees and caused minor roof damage to a few homes before lifting just south of Highway 40. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
