KETCHUM, Idaho — This summer marked ten years since a slice of solitude became a protected wilderness area.

Conservationists, Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson and many other advocates fought for decades to get permanent federal protection for the spectacular Boulder Mountains and White Cloud Mountains in Central Idaho.

The Idaho Conservation League (ICL) and some of its members celebrated that hard-fought win this summer by hiking through the Boulder-White Clouds, a spectacular area just 30 minutes north of Ketchum.
