NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A more active weather pattern is returning to New Mexico. Heavy rain is possible in parts of the state with more rain on the way this weekend. Mornings are mostly looking quiet for Balloon Fiesta!

This afternoon warmed up quickly for most areas with high temperatures above average for this time of year. Northeast New Mexico stayed cooler today, though, as a backdoor cold front moves into this part of the state. Storms popped up in southeast New Mexico this afternoon, with more storms developing in eastern parts of the state this evening as the cold front pushes south. A few storms are still in eastern New Mexico tonight. The cold front will push south and west across New Mexico overnight.
