HARMONY, Pa. —
A proposed mega-makeover at the Seneca Valley School District campus is drawing in criticism from community members who have concerns about the cost.
“I urge you, the board, to reconsider a more economically advantageous plan for everyone,” said one public speaker at the school board meeting Monday night. Advertisement
The district is considering a plan to reconstruct part of the Seneca Valley Intermediate High School and add a performing arts center for the entire district to use.
The project has a maximum cost of more than $165 million.
“It’s a genuinely gargantuan project. It’s way overbuilt,” said Jack McMillin, a Zelienople resident and former Butler County controller. “It’s going to throttle the taxpayers of this area with an enormous amount of debt.”
