Aiyanah Kilah Brown was crossing the 4300 block of South Capitol Street early Saturday morning — just steps from her front door — when the driver of an SUV struck and killed her.

The driver kept going, then abandoned the vehicle, a 2009 Nissan Rogue. The SUV was found abandoned nearby.

“Imagine that was your daughter, your sister, if that was your mother, your aunt,” said her brother, Amari Brown. “You know, put yourself in my shoes, how much I’m hurting right now. I can’t even begin to describe how I feel when it comes to this because that was my other half, and you took that from me.”
