A Kinston City Council candidate for the upcoming 2025 election was arrested by Kinston police and charged with perjury based on inaccuracies found in her candidate file form.

Quarla Blackwell, 51, of Chestnut Street in Kinston, was charged with perjury and swearing falsely, according to Kinston police.
