Hurricane Priscilla is forecast to strengthen into a Category 2 storm over the next several days before its remnants bring much-needed moisture to San Diego County later this week.

The hurricane’s leftovers are expected to spread into southwestern California Thursday through Saturday, with the highest chance of showers arriving on Friday.

The National Weather Service said rainfall totals will vary significantly across the county. Western areas closer to the coast could receive generally light precipitation, while mountain and desert areas could see at least a quarter-inch of rain.

The incoming system will break up a warming trend that is pushing temperatures higher through midweek, forecasters said.
