EL CENTRO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- After suffering from what U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) state “appeared to be a seizure,” a man in custody died in Imperial Valley.

Huabing Xie was in custody at the Imperial Regional Detention Facility in Calexico before being transported for medical attention at El Centro Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead on Sept. 29.

Staff state Xie became unresponsive around 2:13 p.m. before medical personnel began giving him treatment.

“Medical personnel at the detention center administered CPR and used an automated external defibrillator before emergency medical services arrived,” ICE said in a statement.
