The man found dead in a Bega park early on Monday morning had suffered a number of stab wounds, according to police.
Another man also suffered stab wounds in the incident along East Street, and is being treated in Bega Hospital.
Police revealed the nature of the two men's injuries as they fronted the media to quash rumours that a chainsaw was used to inflict injuries in the suspected murder of a man on the Far South Coast.
At Bega Police Station on Tuesday, October 7, South Coast Police District Chief Inspector Shane Jessep said he had seen a video shared online in which a chainsaw was produced.
"At this stage, it doesn't appear to be responsible for any injuries sustained to the parties," he said.
