The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1247 in Grand Junction is temporarily closed, but that closure is not expected to last through the month.

VFW Post 1247, at 1404 Ute Avenue, has been placed under suspension by the VFW Department Colorado, as an administrative committee has been assigned to investigate issues at the post. VFW District 11 Commander Len Ladue, the chairman of the investigative committee, spoke to The Daily Sentinel about the suspension and when members of the post can expect its reopening.

Ladue said that a special member meeting was held Sunday to address the situation. A regular member meeting is scheduled for Oct. 15. Ladue said Oct. 20 is the target date for a “soft re-opening,” though that’s not a guarantee.
