ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Serious shortages in equipment and personnel are affecting service within the Atlanta Fire Department and one veteran councilmember is taking action.
According to the local chapter of the International Association of Firefighters, multiple fire engines are currently out of service citywide and more than a half a dozen communities are suffering from a shortage of fire personnel.
Fire Station 26 at Howell Mill Road and Moores Mill Road is even out of service.
Julie Carothers just moved into the neighborhood and found out they are currently rebuilding her fire station.
“I am concerned. This is the first time that I have heard about it,” Carothers said. “My question and concern is where are the firefighters that were there? Where are they stationed?”
