Ryan Murphy’s latest season of his true crime anthology series has landed on Netflix .
Monster: The Ed Gein Story follows the lesser-known but equally brutal serial killer and body snatcher Ed Gein (played by Charlie Hunnam).
The mild-mannered farmer from Plainville, Wisconsin had a house full of horrors containing his grisly crimes , which included stealing corpses and using their skin to make household objects and clothing as well as engaging in necrophilia.
Along with depicting his macabre crimes, creators Murphy and Ian Brennan have attempted to depict Gein’s schizophrenic mind by creating ambiguity between reality and his own hallucinations, allowing audiences to gain an insight into his mental illness.
