Fayetteville's primary municipal election starts Tuesday, and voters will decide which two of 10 mayoral candidates make it to the general election.

In addition to the mayoral race, five City Council races with more than two candidates will be on ballots.

The top two vote-getters in each race will advance to the general election Nov. 4.

Note that if you live in Districts 3, 4, 5 or 6, the mayoral race will be the only one on your ballot in the primary election. Those races have two or, in the case of District 5, one candidate in the running and will only be on ballots in the general election.

According to unofficial results posted by the Cumberland County Board of Elections, 5,075 votes were cast during the primary early voting period.
