It's primary election day in Fayetteville, and voters have cast their ballots to choose the top two candidates in five City Council races and the mayoral race. The winners will go on to the Nov. 4 general election.
The mayoral race was the only one on primary ballots for voters in City Council Districts 3, 4, 5 or 6. Those races have two or, in the case of District 5, one candidate in the running and will only be on ballots in the general election.
Fayetteville is the only Cumberland County municipality with a primary election: Voters will cast ballots for candidates in Eastover, Falcon, Godwin, Hope Mills, Linden, Spring Lake, Stedman, Wade and the Eastover Sanitary District Board in the general election.
