NILES A woman wanted for arson led authorities on a chase that ended in a crash overnight, according to Niles Police.
A bail bondsman told police that a woman spotted driving an SUV in the city had a warrant for her arrest on an arson charge.
A patrol car caught up with the SUV near the intersection of Routes 422 and 46 around midnight and gave chase.
The two-and-a-half-mile-long pursuit ended when the SUV crashed into a utility pole at Wood Avenue and Mahoning Avenue SE.
The fire department was called to remove the driver from the car. She was taken to St. Joseph Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
The city light department was called out to repair the pole, which had snapped.
Police will be waiting for the woman when she’s released from the hospital.
