Ally McCoist has once again put Coventry City boss Frank Lampard on his wish list for the vacant manager’s job at Rangers. The Ibrox great – who also managed the club from 2011 to 2014 – admitted, however, that the club’s chances of getting the Sky Blues head coach were “nearly impossible”.

And more good news for Coventry fans, Kevin Muscat has emerged as the early bookies’ favourite to succeed Russell Martin, according to BetVictor, who put Lampard way down the pecking order at 33/1 behind Sean Dyche, Steven Gerrard 2/1, Derek McInnes 5/1, Danny Rohl 8/1, Barry Ferguson 16/1, Gary O’Neil 25/1 and Michael Carrick 25/1.
