UK homeowners who keep a coffee machine at home are being urged to take action quickly to avoid making themselves sick. The call to action comes as a recent study revealed coffee machine users' morning coffee might not be as fresh as it looks, as many are brewing from machines that are dirtier than a toilet seat.

According to new data by AO.com , one in 20 people in the UK has never cleaned their coffee machine, despite six in ten admitting they know germs can live inside it. Meanwhile, almost one in six also cleans it less than once a month, leaving plenty of room for bacteria and limescale to build up.
