PROSPERITY, Pa. — Jimmy Brock adjusts a device on his belt that provides oxygen in an emergency. It is the last piece of safety equipment he puts on before our descent into the Enlow Fork Mine for a tour. He silently goes through the hand motions of double-checking the rest: Hard hat is secure; cap lamp is over the top; respirator, mask, hearing protection, protective eye gear are securely in place over flame-resistant overalls and steel-toed boots.
