Construction on the planned Grand Experience entertainment complex in West Des Moines may start about a year later than previously expected and the developer could build fewer affordable housing units under new agreements with the city.

West Des Moines City Council on Monday, Oct. 6 approved new development agreements for the proposed indoor water park, family entertainment center, conference center and hotel complex to be on undeveloped land off of Grand Avenue between South 60th Street and South Jordan Creek Parkway, near the MidAmerican Energy Co. RecPlex .

Much of the scope and incentives for the complex have not changed in the new agreements. But a delay in the developer's purchase of some of the more than 110 acres of land means construction of the $400 million project may star
