BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First News) — Survivors of domestic violence in Louisiana now have a new way to get where they need to go.

On Monday morning, state leaders gathered at Baton Rouge Community College to announce the Safe Wheels Alliance, a partnership between the Governor’s Office on Women’s Policy, IRIS Domestic Violence Center, BRCC, and the Louisiana Community and Technical College System.

The program provides reliable transportation for survivors, helping them get to work, medical appointments, run errands, and regain their independence.
