Greggs is set to open a new bakery in Kent very soon, transforming a disused bank branch in the heart of a busy town centre.

The bakery giant is opening a new location in Folkestone within the disused Barclays on the corner of Sandgate Road and West Terrace.

Since the closing of the bank branch in June 2023, the prominent town centre property has remained vacant. Now Greggs is bringing the space back to life and plans to host its launch “within the next few weeks”.

In recent weeks, signage has appeared in the property’s windows displaying the bakery chain’s distinctive branding.

Meanwhile inside, contractors have been working to fit out the space for its new purpose ahead of the hotly anticipated launch.
