Huntsville is growing fast, and as the city expands, so does the need for more police officers. But becoming one? It’s not exactly a walk in the park.
The physical fitness part of the process is no joke. For some people, it’s the one thing standing between them and their dream of becoming an officer.
According to Huntsville Police Recruiter James Pratt, it all starts with the right mindset.
Pratt said, “I would say it takes motivated individuals that have self-discipline and a desire to push themselves into what would be considered uncomfortable.”
The state-mandated fitness test includes 22 push-ups in one minute, 25 sit-ups in one minute, a timed agility course that must be completed in 90 seconds, which involves pushing a police car, and a mile and a half run that must be finished wi
