According to the latest developments in the Coldriff Cough Syrup Case, 23 children have died in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan after consuming the poisonous cough syrup. Out of these, 19 children cases are from Madhya Pradesh and 4 children are from Rajasthan so far.

After the matter came to light, MP, Rajasthan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Punjab have banned the sale and use of this syrup and a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court over the matter.

The petition demands a CBI inquiry into the matter and an investigation into the safety system of medicines across the country.
