The Greenville County Republican Party plans to censure South Carolina gubernatorial candidate and Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, saying she has not attended any of the group’s events since a far-right faction seized control of the local party in 2021.
Jeff Davis, chairman of the Greenville GOP, said the party plans to host a remote meeting Oct. 10 for a first vote on the censure — a largely symbolic measure that officially records the group’s disapproval — and to finalize the move with a second vote on Oct. 13.
Under Davis’ leadership, a self-proclaimed “America First” arm of the party took the reins of the Greenville GOP four years ago, ousting more traditional Republicans they derided as “RINOs” — Republicans in name only.
