The City of Columbia is kicking off a public planning process to improve safety for all roadway users – from our more vulnerable users like pedestrians and cyclists, to transit riders and personal and commercial vehicle operators.

City officials say this planning process is intended to create a Columbia where we can all travel our city public rights-of-way safely – and that’s why we’re calling it Sharing the Road .

A public open house is set for October 8.

City officials say the comprehensive safety action plan will:

Result in an official public commitment that establishes a target date to significantly reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries.

Identify the City’s High Injury Network through the analysis of crash data and public input .
