NEWAYGO COUNTY, MI – A driver was killed Monday, Oct. 6, after her car crashed into a White Cloud Public Schools bus.
There were no students on the bus, Newaygo County sheriff’s deputies said.
The victim was a 25-year-old Fremont woman. Her name has not been released.
The bus driver, a 46-year-old White Cloud woman, was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, police said.
The crash was reported at 6:19 p.m. at East Eighth Street and South Oak Avenue in Everett Township.
Preliminary investigation showed that the driver of the car was traveling west on East Eighth Street when she failed to stop for a stop sign at South Oak Avenue and her vehicle collided with the bus.
The Fremont woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither vehicle had passengers.
