Plans for a new leisure centre Cambridgeshire are moving forward. A new eight lane 25-metre swimming pool and fitness centre could be built in Peterborough , subject to funding being secured.

Councillors will be asked to approve a preferred option in principle to replace the city’s regional fitness and swimming centre at a meeting of the authority’s cabinet at Sand Martin House on Tuesday, October 14.

The move comes following a feasibility study into options for a replacement facility and regular meetings between council officers and key stakeholders in the project. This includes both city MPs, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA), ARU Peterborough, City of Peterborough Swimming Club, Friends of the Lido, and Living Sport.
