The National Hurricane Center is tracking a tropical system forming in the central Atlantic, with a high probability of becoming a tropical depression or storm within the next day.

As of Tuesday morning, the system is located about 1,500 miles east of the Windward Islands, with increasing organization of shower and thunderstorm activity.

The National Hurricane Center reports environmental conditions appear favorable for continued development.

Forecasters say there’s an 80% chance of formation within 48 hours and a 90% chance within seven days.

The system is expected to move quickly west-northwestward across the central tropical Atlantic.
