Two north-east chippers have been named in the semi-finals of the major Takeaway of the Year category at next year's National Fish & Chip Awards.

The Takeaway of the Year category has been streamlined following a tough knock-out round that saw the top 40 shortlist narrowed down to just 20.

The well-versed team of experts conducted close inspections of the chippers’ approaches to produce selection, industry knowledge, quality, sustainability and more, which has now reduced the lineup by half.

And an Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire venue have both made it to the semi-finals of the prestigious UK-wide awards.

Garioch Fish Bar in Inverurie and Lows Traditional Fish & Chips in Berryden were both earmarked for providing top quality takeaway options to customers.
