A man was arrested Saturday after allegedly pointing a handgun at a group of children while on his boat in New Smyrna Beach, according to the New Smyrna Beach Police Department.

The incident occurred on the Intracoastal Waterway, and 40-year-old Christopher Evensen was identified as the suspect.

According to several of the victims, the man was operating the boat when he became "irate." One of the victim's mothers says they were teens between the ages of 14 and 15.

He had become frustrated by the wake the children were creating in the water near his vessel, NSBPD said.

Police say Evensen allegedly took out the gun and pointed it at the children.

The teens told police he "pointed a gun and waved it at us," and that he said he would "shoot them and watch them bleed out."
