Amarillo National Bank will defer loan payments for its customers who are not receiving their regular paychecks during the ongoing partial government shutdown, the bank announced Tuesday, Oct. 7.

“A community bank takes care of their customers. These shutdowns are a burden for all, especially government workers. We’ll do everything we can to lessen that burden,” ANB President William Ware said in a company news release.

ANB said impacted federal employees and defense contractors will be subject to verification by the bank on a case-by-case basis.

The following applies to any federal government employees and/or defense contractors who have accounts, mortgages or consumer loans with ANB during the shutdown:

Mortgages: ANB will offer forbearances on mortgage payments for up to six months
