FRANKFORT, Ky. —

Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman has filed a lawsuit against Roblox, one of the world's most popular online gaming and social media platforms.

Coleman alleges the company knowingly allowed its platform to become a "playground for predators to distribute child sexual abuse material and groom child victims."

According to the attorney general, nearly two-thirds of all U.S. children ages 9 to 12 play games on Roblox.

The Nevada-based company, which was valued at $41 billion when it went public in 2021, has long faced scrutiny over safety and content moderation.

Coleman said public records have linked the platform to several incidents, including so-called "assassination simulators"
