In order to give travelers and hospitality planners plenty of advanced notice, Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport announced a major runway paving project that will begin next summer.
During a media briefing Oct. 7, GSP chief marketing and communications officer Tom Tyra said phase 1 of the runway repaving work will begin July 27, 2026. He explained the lifespan of the airport’s single 11,001-foot runway is between 15 and 20 years with the last repaving project undertaken in 2009.
The work will involve repaving 6,500 feet of runway and the full 11,001 feet of runway shoulder.
