SAFETY experts have warned of a potentially life-threatening phone glitch - and the easy trick to preventing a disaster from taking place.
Cell phone users have been urged to never charge their devices near door frames.
That's because most phones have batteries that could overheat and ignite into a deadly flame, fire officials say.
The fire department in Clayton, North Carolina, outside Raleigh, explained that if a tech item uses a lithium-ion battery , it should be treated with care.
Clayton Fire Department Captain Bryan Belvin said these batteries can go on a "runaway," which will force them to heat up and potentially catch fire.
Many cell phones use the power sources, and an increasing number of other electronics are opting for the popular batteries, Belvin warned.
