Iberville Parish authorities have released the identity of the man who they say shot two sheriff's deputies at the parish courthouse Monday night, killing one and injuring the other.

District Attorney Tony Clayton identified the man who allegedly shot Brett Stassi Jr. and Charles Riley as Latrell Mikal Ornee Clark, 27, of Baton Rouge. The officers were attempting to arrest Clark when he shot at them.

He was then killed in the exchange. It is unknown whether he was shot by a law enforcement officer or if he shot himself.

Charles Riley died from his injuries at the hospital on Monday night.

Brett Stassi Jr., the son of Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi's, remains in cirtical condition, "fighting for his life," according to the sheriff.
